Personnel Manager - Job 531

£28-£31k plus benefits
Cheltenham based

Our client is one of the countries leading Independent Financial Businesses, benefiting from over 125 years of experience, currently within excess if £8billion in assets. The fact that this is one of the most efficient businesses in its sector means that they can pass on these benefits through lower rates for borrowers and higher rates for savers. This sort of flexibility has seen the number of people investing with them grow to over 400,000 and borrowers to over 90,000. Despite this spectacular growth, our client continues to give the highest priority to providing a fast and personal service to its customers.

In order to support the business in this growth and commitment they are looking to recruit a Personnel Manager reporting to the Head of Personnel, with responsibility for providing an efficient and effective Personnel Management service to the business; ensuring that within their area of operation the aims and objectives of the Personnel Development Plan are delivered and providing the above services in line with policy, regulatory and legislative requirements.

This is a technical role and will specifically require you to:

  • Develop, maintain and review systems of control in relation to audit requirements and risk management.
  • Manage and control these functions and the staff associated with them.
  • Ensure that the department is adequately resourced and that all staff are suitably trained and developed in order to meet the required objectives.
  • Maintain procedure manuals and other staff information sources for all relevant operational functions and ensure that systems and procedures for new activities are established prior to operation.
  • Promote best practice and represent Personnel in staff related matters. To undertake project work connected with the same.
  • Give direct support service to business managers, working in partnership to provide people based business solutions and efficiencies.
  • Act as a resource to business managers to deliver key people related objectives.
  • Advocate core values as they relate to people issues, promoting the Personnel view in business decision making and actions.
  • Provide a dispute resolution service to the business including participation in counselling, grievance, disciplinary and severance matters.

Our client recognises that the people they employ are their greatest assets. Therefore they are seeking to attract the best people, provide them with the opportunities to develop their skills and encourage them to make their career with them.

To do this we need to find people who aren’t afraid of hard work and be commitment. However it's not a matter of all work and no play, we want people to have fun and enjoy their work, bond with their colleagues and develop a sense of identity. We are looking for about 5 years experienced, with an appropriate graduate level business qualification. Currently working within a HR, business improvement or project services environment and who can demonstrate substantive experience in the above areas.

If you think you might be the right kind of person we would like to hear from you.
