So, you’re doing well, on the outside it looks as if you’re achieving and delivering what you should be but still you’re not satisfied by these outcomes.  Why can’t you just be happy with your achievements?

Are you working for the right company? The right boss even? Are you being true to yourself and are you allowed to bring your true self to work?  According to a recent report by Deloitte’s, over 60% of us “cover”, or suppress a part of ourselves in order to fit in at work.  “Covering” is not going to make you happy now is it!

Perhaps we should look at a slightly different point of view.  Do you really know what you want from work?

Try asking yourself these four “simple” questions;

  1. What am I good at?
  2. What are my values?
  3. How do I actually work?
  4. What is the contribution I intend to make?

Perhaps it’s stating the obvious but you won’t feel satisfied at work if your answers don’t fit with your employer.

These might appear to be quite simple questions but I think they’re actually quite hard to answer, especially if you’re honest and it might take some time to get to the real answers.  But asking yourself these questions, every few months, will help you to evaluate what you want – don’t be surprised if the answers change over time, they should really.

So!  What makes you HAPPY at work?  And, if you’re not happy at work what are you going to do about it?
